Kate Moir

Kate brings nearly two decades of diverse experience in community planning across Manitoba, Ontario and British Columbia. She specializes in creating complete communities where people can live, work, and play.       As a public engagement specialist, Kate is dedicated to fostering inclusive and sustainable communities by addressing social, environmental, and economic factors   in development.

Kate holds a Bachelor of Arts in Geography with a minor in Social Anthropology from Vancouver Island University and a Master's degree in Environmental Management from Royal Roads University. Her academic background has equipped her with a deep understanding of environmental management, social anthropology and urban planning, enabling her to implement policies that promote sustainable development and meet community goals. 

A strong advocate for community development through meaningful engagement, Kate employs innovative public participation techniques to reduce barriers and facilitate informed decision-making. She has completed multiple courses from the International Association of Public Participation (IA2), including a Level 3 conflict resolution course and the Indigenous Awareness Program. Recently, she achieved her CP3 designation from IAP2 and serves as a mentor for public engagement practitioners.

 

In her role as Director of Planning, Kate leads public engagement efforts and contributes to various planning and design projects, from small to large-scale developments, comprehensive community plans, and zoning studies. Her experience as CEO of the RM of Brokenhead has given her valuable insights into the fiscal responsibilities of municipalities. 

Kate's commitment to community development and sustainable planning continues to drive her work, ensuring that every project she undertakes leads to vibrant, resilient, and inclusive communities.
